Jury member for the Press Institute of India (PII)-International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Awards

Thrilled to have participated as a jury member for the Press Institute of India (PII)-International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Awards, celebrating the remarkable work of journalists and photographers in promoting disability inclusion through a humanitarian lens. Collaborating with fellow jury members Jaya Shreedhar, Himanshu Vyas, Rakhi Ghosh, and Kavitha Muralidharan to choose from so many impactful stories and photographs was both a challenge and a privilege. It was a great learning experience.

The awards ceremony at the India International Center in Delhi was a wonderful occasion, with Mr. Sashi Nair , Director PII; Mr. Kedir Awol Omar, Regional Director of ICRC for India, Bhutan, Nepal, and the Maldives; and Chief Guest Mr. Rajendra Ratnoo, IAS, Executive Director of NIDM, presenting awards to the deserving journalists and photographers. The selected stories highlighted diverse themes such as para sports, intersectionality, challenges in accessing sporting facilities, medical innovations, and the celebration of inclusion. A panel discussion with the jury on these themes added further depth to the event.

The event was a grand celebration of inclusion, and I am deeply thankful to the ICRC team, especially Ashish and intern Siddharth, for making my stay in Delhi so comfortable. I return home with many fond memories and a renewed commitment to promoting inclusion through storytelling.
